Kathryn Hamilton is thrilled beyond all measure to have the honor of judging her third Australian Cattle Dog Club of America National Specialty!

Kathryn has enjoyed a lifetime with dogs. Since childhood, dogs have had an important role in her daily routine and given her much pleasure and companionship. Growing up on a ninety-acre tree farm in rural Oregon, her dog served her well to gather her horses and accompany her on many a trail ride in the big timber.

In 1982 Kathryn began taking dog-training lessons, with her crossbred dog, from a man that trained German Shepherd Dogs for the local policed department. His personal dog was a remarkable Australian Cattle Dog. That man was Scott Hamilton and with her dog at her side, she married him soon thereafter. Together they obtained their first AKC registered Australian Cattle Dog in 1984 and the rest is history.

Breeding together with her husband under the Redwing prefix, Kathryn has enjoyed finishing several champions, obedience and herding titled dogs. They have earned several awards for breeding accomplishments, including three generations of coveted Register of Merit awards.

Kathryn has been a member of the ACDCA, Inc. since 1985 and served twelve years as the club’s first AKC Delegate. In that capacity she served several terms on the Herding, Earth dog and Coursing Committee. She is a charter member of the Cascade Australian Cattle Dog Club, holding several offices and serving as show chairman throughout the years. She has been very active in her local All Breed club for over twenty five years, serving multiple times as show chairman, and as a cluster committee member for a very large Pacific Northwest cluster, the Rose City Classic.

Kathryn has recently returned home to her family farm where she enjoys the company and humor of both her husband and her Cattle Dog. In addition to her dog hobby she enjoys reading, watching movies, drawing, and working in the woods.

She would like to thank the ACDCA membership for once again providing this exciting opportunity and wishes everyone the best of luck.
